8. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to improve your experience and service functionality, remember your preferences and settings, analyze usage patterns for service improvement, and ensure security and prevent fraud. You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.
9. Browser Extension
Our browser extension ("Pricemist - Save & Track Prices") is an optional companion to the Pricemist web application. This section describes how the extension handles your data.
9.1 Data Collected by the Extension
When you use the extension, it may collect the following data:
- Product information: When you choose to save a product, the extension reads the current page to extract product details such as the page title, product name, price, currency, and product image URL. This data is sent to our servers to create your price tracking entry.
- Page URLs: The URL of pages you save is sent to our servers. The extension does not track or transmit URLs of pages you do not save.
- Authentication data: The extension uses your existing Pricemist session to authenticate API requests. No additional login credentials are collected or stored by the extension.
9.2 Local Storage
The extension stores a small amount of data locally on your device using Chrome's storage API:
- Your authentication status (to avoid repeated server checks)
- A list of your most recent saves (up to 10 items, for quick access in the popup)
- Your extension preferences (such as whether the floating save button is visible)
This local data is cleared when you log out or switch accounts.
9.3 Permissions
The extension requests browser permissions solely to provide its core functionality:
- Active tab & scripting: To read product information from the page you are viewing when you choose to save it.
- Storage: To store your preferences and recent saves locally.
- Cookies: To authenticate with Pricemist using your existing session.
- Host access: To communicate with Pricemist servers over HTTPS.
The extension does not collect web browsing history, track your activity across websites, or access page content for any purpose other than product detection when you interact with the extension. The extension does not sell, transfer, or use your data for advertising, analytics unrelated to the service, or any purpose other than providing the Pricemist price tracking service.
9.4 Data Transmission
All data transmitted between the extension and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS. The extension only communicates with Pricemist servers — it does not send data to any third parties.
10. Children's Privacy
Our service is not intended for users under 16, and we do not knowingly collect data from children. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 16, we will take steps to delete such information.
11. Automated Decision-Making
We do not employ automated decision-making or profiling with significant legal effects on users.
